							| The negation of an emphasizing word like "very" produces the opposite.   "Very many" means a large amount. "Not very many" means a definitely small amount. It is roughly equivalent to "not many at all".   "Too hot" means more than a person is comfortable with. "Not too hot" can mean fairly cool, although it can also be a simple negation, meaning that it is hot, but bearably so.
