Hi,
I need your help in using the article : � the �. In the book, it is explained that we use the zero article when we are making generalization.
Why don �t we use " the" in :
Life in a small village can be very boring?
I think in this sentence, it is not general life it is related to a small village.
While we use "the" in: The fields around the village are full of cows??

we use "the" because the fields around the village are know, specific. The fields we are talking about are the ones around the city not the ones inside the city ( if there are any) or the fields far away from it.
we used zero article with life because it is an abstract noun. |
