@douglas- that should be "thinkest thou".
I �m not totally disagreeing, isa2, but grammarians change with the times, too, so if you are going to take your "rules" from a book, it needs to be a recent one.

Please don �t teach your students to sound like they �ve swallowed a grammar book and/ or a dictionary. They will be considered geeks in an English-speaking environment. English is a living language and constantly changes. We are so fortunate that with modern technology we can keep up with it. As teachers we need to be constantly questioning and improving our language so that our students can stand proudly on their own two feet. Of course, there are different registers, etc but let �s not get stuck with the dodo. Please don �t be offended..this is just the opinion of an old grandmother who is kept young daily by interaction with her students. |
