							|  As far as the article is concerned, "There is a swimming pool" is correct. I don �t quite know what "Youth" has to do with it. Do you mean there is a pool just for young people o use, or maybe that �s the name of the pool? With "Youth" on the end, none of your sentences is correct.   Bruce  |  24 Feb 2015

							| The difference between "the" and "a" is that "the" indicates that the person already knows which specific one you are talking about.  For example, "There is THE youth swimming pool (that I already talked about)".  Or, "There is THE youth swimming pool and there is THE adult pool (specific ones)."  "A" would be ANY youth swimming pool, not a specific one.  "There is A youth swimming pool (that we never talked about).  The adjective youth should come in FRONT of the noun--youth swimming pool.  Does this help? |  24 Feb 2015
