I got a mixed-age, mixed ability class of adult learners. Yesterday my weakest learner (40, builder by profession, refugee, nearly illiterate in our alphabet and he cannot yet speak) raised his hand during a class exercise, came to the blackboard, turned around to his classmates and asked them (in their common language) to spell out the contribution he wanted to make as he was writing along. His contribution was "I went to the park on Saturday with my family. On Sunday we were at home. Rain."
That made my week. It is good enough to make my month even. |
