Lynne �s second suggestion is probably the better one, because the exercise seems to want to eliminate "not". i could be wrong about that, though. It could just want to eliminate the contraction. That is why Lynne gave two options. Bruce |

Just as a quick comment, anabelalameida, when you say "There are plates missing," you are saying that at one time that there were more plates, but some plates are now gone. Maybe someone stole them or put some of the plates in the wrong place, but you can �t find them. |

" we are short of plates" sounds more natural than "there are too few plates". Though, to be honest, I wouldn �t re-phrase this at all. "there aren �t enough plates" is the best one or "we don �t have enough plates...". |

I would say "we don´t have enough plates", although of the alternatives, I think "we are short of plates" is the best |
