							| Dear friends,
In an exercise, my students have a problem and I can t help them. They have to rewrite this sentence using "having":
"Of course I didn t give them your phone number," she said to me.
How can we do it? Why?
Thank you in advance! | 18 May 2016

							| How about this? Of course I didn t want them having your phone number. This sounds ok to me, but "I didn t want them to have" is more formal and sounds more elegant.  | 18 May 2016

							| Are you allowed to add more words?   If so:    Of course I didn t give them your phone number without having your permission.    Of course I didn t give them your phone number without having checked with you first. | 18 May 2016
