							| Dear colleagues,   I m doing a translation of a text from Arabic into English and there is a word in Arabic that I don t know its equivalent in English. I m wondering if you can help me. The word refers to the person who writes on a piece of paper or object so as to bring good luck or cure from an illness. Thanks beforehand for your consideration. | 4 Jul 2016

							| I don t think there is a direct translation. Perhaps you can use the Arabic word (Anglisized) in italics and add an explanation. We have a fortune teller and there are several synonyms, but none which match what you are describing.      Maybe someone else can think of a better word.  | 4 Jul 2016

							| I m grateful beyond words for your help, dear colleagues. "talisman writer" almost fits the Arabic equivalent. | 5 Jul 2016
