							| hi everybody!I I hope u are doing well This year  I´ ve got one girl with special needs ( Down  Syndrome) along with other 34 students in 3ºESO (15-year- old students) We haven´t started with students yet but some colleagues have told me that she is always calling attention. I´ve already prepared some material for her but don´t know how to do well with her and with the rest. Any suggestions? thanks a lot | 14 Sep 2016

							| Hi,   From my experience, if you are in charge of a big mixed ability class including a special ed teen you should perhaps require a teacher s aid to be there permanently in class to help her (also use the materials you prepared). It s a really sizeable group to learn a language in the first place which will hinder her progress.    keep my fingers crossed,   joanna  | 14 Sep 2016

							| Thats a big class, plus with a special ed student it will be a challenge.   I agree with Joanna - you could request a teachers aide because surely your student would be eligible for some specialist support.   Otherwise, you could buddy her up with a few of the stronger students.   Instead of students calling out for help, I ask them to write their name on the board and I work through the list in order.  What often happens, is that by the time I get to them they have solved their problem!  So, my technique is helping them develop their problem solving skills and I avoid the constant calling out for help. Works like a dream. Maybe you could try it.   Cheers   Jayho | 15 Sep 2016
