Hi zvonka. It �s win over an opponent, which actually means to persuade someone to agree with your point of view. (Or win round). Win an opponent is not right. You beat an opponent, which means that you win (whatever the competition or bet was).
So, you win a race and you beat the other competitors. You win the battle and you beat the enemy. |

I completely agree with all of Cunlife �s suggestions. You can also say you defeat an enemy or opponent. |
