 |
							| Dear colleagues,   Is this phrase correct:   win an opponent or should it be win over an opponent?   Thank you for your answers.  | 28 Sep 2016

							| Hi zvonka. It s win over an opponent, which actually means to persuade someone to agree with your point of view. (Or win round). Win an opponent is not right. You beat an opponent, which means that you win (whatever the competition or bet was).  So, you win a race and you beat the other competitors. You win the battle and you beat the enemy. | 28 Sep 2016

							| I completely agree with all of Cunlife s suggestions.    You can also say you defeat an enemy or opponent.       | 29 Sep 2016
