							| It is  �everything to play for �, and as Bruce says, it depends on the situation. It means that you can gain or lose everything. It �s usually used optimistically - to use another idiom to illustrate: if you play your cards right, you could do very well indeed. So, in the context here, oiseau bleu, the child is at the starting point, with adulthood ahead. He/she has everything to play for ... and let�s hope they take the right steps to a successful life (is implied). |  27 Oct 2016
