							| Short songs to cope with lack of attention
 |
							|   Hello dear colleagues,   I need to teach some short songs with total physical response, which can help me to deal with disruption in the class. So I can stop what I am doing with the song and then go back to the topic once their  attention has come back. My students are between 8 and 10 years old.     Thanks so much.  | 19 Apr 2017

							| Some ideas on here.
Also, A good attention grabbing song is The Listening Song. It is sung to the tune of Frere Jacques, and goes like this:Eyes are watching, Ears are listening,
 Lips are closed,
 Hands are still.
 Feet are very quiet,
 You should really try it,
 Listening well, Listening well

(For TPR, they point to the body parts as they sing them)

							| You could try doing something like a cheerleading chant where the pupils make the shapes of letters with their arms. Like this: Teacher: Give me an L!  Pupils: L! (One arm up, one arm out to the side.) T: Give me an I! P: I! (Arms straight up.) T: Give me an S! P: S! (snake-shaped arms.) And so, on, until you spell out the word "listen."   I used to have a problem with lethargic classes at the end of the day, especially period 6 in winter in Manchester when it was dark outside! I would just make everyone stand up, jump up and down, turn around, stretch their arms and then sit down again.     | 21 Apr 2017
