							| Is it correct?
 |
							| Hi, I am preparing an activity about family and places in the house and I am confused. I d really appreciate if you could help me. Is it correct to say WHERE IS THE MOM?" Do you know if the use of the article is appropriate?   Thanks in advance!!   Veronica    | 12 Sep 2017

							| If it is in a dialogue with a child asking, use "Where s Mom?" If you have a picture with different family members and you want the students to pick out the correct person, ask "Where is the mother?" We use mom as a nickname for mother, so we treat it like a name, not as a common noun. You might be able to get away with "Where s the mom?" if the students are preschoolers, though. | 12 Sep 2017
