							| "I have a nuclear family?
 |
							| Hi!   I know that    "I come from a nuclear family" or "I am part of a nuclear family" are correct.   My doubt is:
"I have a nuclear family?" is that possible?   Thanks in advance.  | 27 Feb 2018

							| Actually, Mari, I wouldn t use any of those. They definitely aren t grammatically wrong, as I m sure you know, but (in my opinion), we generally don t use "nuclear family" in such specific situations. It is a more general term, to describe a setting, rather than a specific family.   Others might disagree with me on this. Stay tuned for further developments.   Bruce  | 27 Feb 2018

							| I agree with Bruce. nuclear family is a term used in academic contexts such as sociology or anthropology. I wouldn t say I have a nuclear family, but we can say I live in a nuclear family, which is the norm in my culture. Nuclear families are not the norm in some cultures, where people live in extended families, as a rule. | 27 Feb 2018
