							| �Which� is correct. �Something� is correct, so I agree with the others� comments.  �When � is fine too, but like �although� it needs  �it � at the end. 
 Therefore, as the sentence stands, I would not use �although� or �when�. I would use �which�. |  19 Mar 2018

							| To explain to your students why  �although � is wrong, remind them that  �expected � is a verb which needs a direct object - in this case, there is no object already in the clause, so it must be put in the gap as a relative pronoun (which) or as  �something � as Douglas suggested. Were the direct object  �it � present after the verb, a conjunction like  �although � would be an acceptable answer.  |  19 Mar 2018
