							| Are these sentences grammatically correct? -After the children eat dinner, he takes them to bed. -She lays the table before Homer and the children sit to eat. Thanks in advance!  | 23 Aug 2018

							| Hi, Carinita, For the first one, as long as "he" is identified somewhere before this sentence, it is good. It would be more formally correct to say "After the children have eaten dinner, he takes them to bed", and maybe in British English, that is still mandatory, but in the US, this is common.   I m guessing that "lay the table" is the British English expression for what we in the US call "setting the table". In this sentence, we would say "sit down to eat".   Bruce  | 24 Aug 2018
