							| scanned material
 |
							| Hi everybody I have recently sent two scanned pages taken from a wonderful picture dictionary I have. I wrote the name of the  dictionary and the publisher on the worksheet and made it clear I was just sending the pictures because they had been extremelly useful to me in several  teaching situations.
My question is: is it ok to do so or should it be avoided?
When something works well with me I think it may work well with other collegues. I do not mind at all receiving useful material even if it was scanned , as long as the source is mentioned, but I dont want to do anything wrong.
 What is your advice?
 Any

							| Hi, there has been a heated discussion here a couple of months ago. It is not possible to send scanned pages from books, they are protected by copyright. Actually, if you start uploading your worksheet, try to read what rules Victor set when he started eslprintables. the rules are just over the box into which you choose your material to upload. Good luck in future!   Renata | 15 Sep 2008

							| Hi Anyataide,
The reason we are not allowed to scan pictures from books and upload them is due to copyright infringement.  You could place Victor in a very serious position as he could become liable for breaking copyright laws because of your illegal material placed on his website.

Victors rules are there for a reason.  If people want to keep such a wonderful website they really need to follow the rules.  Everytime you infringe on copyright you are placing this website at risk.  By uploading educational material from a book you are in direct violation of copyright rules.  The rules around pictures and music lyrics is a lot more flexible and unclear due to the for educational purposes clause.

I do not think it is responsible, reasonable, or tenable that people continue to download work that they know is stolen or protected by copyright.  People know the rules - and when people unintentionally break them it is important that you make them aware of this - rather than congratulate them on a great find!

This teacher is obviously trying to be helpful to others - someone should have informed her the first time she broke the rules so she could remedy the problem.  Come on teachers - help Victor and each other out.

							| A lot of debate has been had on original not original and using images from other sites/books etc that someone needs to summarise this information. I thought that Vikiii in another thread made some very clear statements which were very helpfu. | 27 Nov 2008
