							| In my opinion, it depends on the situation.    If youre showing a picture book or a flashcard to your children, you ask "What is this?"   If youre interested in a person wearing a witch, ghost or monster costume, you use "Who", like this - Who played the Wicked Witch in the original "The Wizard of Oz" movie?     | 4 Jul 2019

							| Ill add to Kohais excellent answer.   If the intended answer is a name, then use "who". If the intended answer is a thing, use "what".    Bruce  | 4 Jul 2019
