							| Things are looking up ;o) (grammar)
 |
							| Dear all,    maybe someone could helm me find out why "Things are looking up." Is correct. Is is because the speaker expresses emotions along with the general observation of things improving?    "Things are looking pretty bad." vs. "Things look pretty bad."    Is "things" to general here for the simple form to be correct? Thus, does "things" have to be put in perspective by using "are looking"?    Any help is geatly appreciated.    ;o)   | 17 Nov 2019

							| Things are looking up expresses how things are at the moment and that is the usual comment. If you want to use Things look up you would have to add a clause, for example, Things always look up when Les shows up. | 17 Nov 2019
