							| I am not sure if I am supposed to mention my own worksheet...but I use the song "you sang to me" by Marc Anthony...the first verse is great to demonstrate and explain past continous...there is a gap exercise available in the "Songs" category... | 17 Mar 2009

							| You can introduce the topic by doing this:
 1. go into the classroom as usual and have an informal chat for a while (3-5 minutes)
 2. in the the middle of the chat, pretend you have to go outside suddenly, then leave the class for about 2-3 minutes; waiting outside the classroom
 3. while waiting, you take notes what the students are doing while you are not around
 4. go back to the class room and continue the chat for a while: asking the students about what they were doing while you were out.
 5. ask questions about what the students were doing while you were out, introduce past continuous form by writing the question form and their answers on the board; underline or circle was/were + vb-ing.
 6. compare with your notes; play a guessing game who was doing what..

 Hopefully it helps,
 pus
