Hello everybody. I have never used the past time expression "last yesterday", but I was told some days ago that British people use that, when they speak at the past simple tense. Can anyone help me, answering my question, please? Thank you very much. federica |

To specify the time of day, you can say: Yesterday morning Yesterday afternoon Yesterday evening Yesterday at 2 o� clock BUT the exception is: Last night |

I think yester is archaic language for last or in the past, so that is the reason we do not need last with yester--. |
