Dear Teachers,
Would you, please, explain me what preposition we should use in such phrases like Friday evening, Thursday afternoon.
I know that we shoudl use IN with parts of the day and ON with days of the week, but what shall we use with Friday morning?

It �s the preposition "on" for " Friday evening" and " Thursday afternoon"
Eg: I went out with my sister on Friday evening

Hi Elena,
Well with those expressions we dont really use any preposition. The sentence will be like this:
I went out with my sister Friday evening.
AND...
...If u just say the day, like "friday" then we use "on." "I´ll get paid on Friday." but if u make it more specific then u dont have any preposition, u just say "I´ll get paid Friday morning. It doesn´t make sense to say "on Friday morning" . Maybe some peopel say "on friday morning". But im saying it´s more natural to just not have any preposition.
Normally you will get 10x as many google results with "friday morning" than u do with "on friday morning"

As a native speaker I use both "Friday morning" and "on Friday morning" and I probably use "on Friday morning" more often than the other.
The general rule is to use the preposition for the first word ("on Friday..."). |
