							| I have a simple question.   This is the active sentence:  Peter gave his girlfriend a stolen ring.   What is the correct passive sentence??   - His girlfriend was given a ring.   - A ring was given to his girlfriend.   Both sound correct to me , but there s a grammatical explanation to this. I think it has to do with indirect objects....  I do not remember.... can you help me?   MANY THANKS | 14 Apr 2009

							| Both sentences are grammatically correct. It s just that you have two objects that you can "play" with in this sentence - the direct and indirect object.

							| For me, both are correct... It is called the idiomatic passive, because you use the direct or indirect object to start the sentence in the passive voice... | 14 Apr 2009
