We can have endless discussions about the net but what about the ethics? I have never displayed someone s else work as mine.... But other people can do it easily and even get angry and agressive when you ask them to remove the stolen copy. We really can t do anything about it...But we can t stay indifferent.....

The blogs have been deleted because we sent comments there saying they were using our ws without permission.
An important fact is: I m not only defending my ws. I had one in cristina s blog and another on joseanis blog. He has deleted all our ws and he said he was sorry about it.
But there was another blog (a friend of Cristina) who didn t have my ws, but Marisa s and domnitza s and I defended their work as if it was my own.
And the other blog had ws mady by: Marisa (mpotb), domnitza, jecika, katiana, Rosario Pacheco, montse, curk, abut, me and some more.
What I want to make clear here is I m not defending my work but everyone s work.
When I see stolen work on other sites or blogs, I don t care if they are mine or if they belong to another member of this site. I feel as angry as if they were mine. |

That s gerat that the stolen wss have been deleted. But wat can we do to protect us in future? I say WE because I share Mar s idea of defending not only our own work! Mar, you re not only a real teacher and good friend, but you re A GREAT PERSON!!!!! The best example for all of us...

What s the matter with you people? Do you even know the meaning of the word stolen? There is a difference between copying and stealing, and that s why we have different words for those actions. Also, in my view, we are all teachers. Professional knowledge sharers by choice. If you are against knowledge dissemination, should I assume you do not use copyrighted material in your lessons? Not that your worksheets are properly copyrighted. So, you should not use copyrighted songs, movies, cartoons and such without permission from their distributing companies. You do realize that this is a sharing site, right?

Hi Everyone
Just got home from school to find the forum buzzing with activity...
Mar, do you think you could upload that website link again? I know I ve already left some comments, but maybe everyone could do it?
It might be helpful. At least they ll know how we feel about it!!! |

Hi everybody,
Although I m very sad, there is really nothing we can do about people uploading our work in other websites, the same as singers can t do anything about the fact that people download their songs for free. Other people download books without paying or using copies of window, word or other programs. Haven t we all used pictures ( Disney or Simpson s for instance) without having the right to do it? Disney would never give the persmission to use the pictures without paying for them. Some of my worksheets have been uploaded at a blog too. I would have liked to have the credit for the work, but I think that once I made it public, there is nothing I should compalain about. I m NOT defending the stealing, I just would like to see our dear members back.

This discussion is not only about the blogs but about many of the new-comers here who have no points, somehow download a ws and upload it as their own. The moderators are really fast at finding these stolen ws and ask for them to be removed - often on the same day they are uploaded.
As a lyricist, I find many people illegally copying the songs I have written lyrics to. There are unethical people everywhere - even among teachers, unfortunately. But damn if I m gonna let a few jerks ruin this great site for me. 1 terrorist can cripple a whole nation and a few idiots can steal from us here, but I, for one, am NOT going to let them win. They are not setting the agenda here - we are. So be aware -crack down on these people and fight back. Don t give up! L
ps Victor - please, please put the rules up here on the front page.(or at least change the title from What s This to ESL Rules) We re so tired of new people asking about points and how things are done because they don t read/can t find the rules of this site. It might also help those new people to NOT steal other s materials!

To Vera... SHARING DOESN T MEAN STEALING! Sharing means not anly sharing a list of paper with something written on it.... I share my work, my creativity, my love for teaching , my hope that this list of paper will be useful for someone else... Most of teachers share a part of their souls with you and other people. And I think that we all realise that there is always a risk! We know what internet is. Don´t we? BUT... the idea Mar and Katiana are trying to share with us is the matter of our personal attitude to each other s work. I wrote a poem for all the devoted teachers of esl printables. Here it is: Lets share and take care We do not need a prize! Weve got the right to give advice But not to criticize. Lets be polite and tolerant Respect each others work, Lets leave the magic THANK YOU words Dont waste your time , lets work! Sometime in future youll be asked: What have you done in life? Youll answer I have shared! I think this choice is right!
LET S SHARE AND TAKE CARE... I mean if only those people had asked for the permission to publish the wss, showed their respect for other people s work... WE would not have this discussion now. Was it really difficult to write a short message and just ask and say Thank you?
