And all the other children are looking in the opposite direction! or I have two brothers -  one is taller than me, but the other(number 2) one is not. I wish I had another(additional) sibling, but I wish this one were a girl.   or you may check this out...     hope this helps a bit....let s hear from other people, too... | 29 Jun 2009

							| Dear Shelly,   According to edufind.com , the difference between other and another is the following: OTHER, ANOTHER These words refer to something different, remaining, or additional. They are placed before the noun. Another is used with singular nouns, other with singular or plural.
There are other jobs you could try.
Where s the other packet of cereals?
Is there any other bread?
Have another cup of tea Best wishes, Nebal | 29 Jun 2009

							| Another is used with singular nouns, other with singular or plural. This is not always true. Another can go with plural as well: We have another ten weeks before the snow melts.  Both ten and weeks are plural yet we can use another here.  It really depends on the context, like most things in English.

							| "Another ten weeks" is singular in itself!!! Here we have a "ten weeks" period, and   another "ten weeks" is another period. It is still singular.    For instance:   You can say "other people" but you cannot say "another people".   But you can say: "The murderer killed five people last week. He killed another five people this week."   Here it has a number before the plural and here it groups the people of five and "another" is here used for a singular group that consists of 5 people, so at the end of the day the second group is singular in itself.   It is simple that another is composed of "an-other" and here "an" used for sth singular:)    I agree with Neball.     | 29 Jun 2009
