What I have in my dossier
I use these forms for my students work dossier�s; They get a copy for their folder and collect work over the year. At some stages (every couple of months) we discuss the essays and choose which ones are best, which ones need some more work and how to improve them.

Africa Webquest/Portfolio/Selfstudy Unit
a guided selfstudyunit, where students have to work on the topic, they have a timeframe of about a month in which they have to prepare this folder. I�ve done similar projects in an Austrian "Hauptschule" (lower secondary school) several times already, and I�m always extremly impressed with the work of my pupils.

Nelly�s unusual pet
I adapted a text I found in a book. There a a few ways of working with it, there is a gap activity, (with solution) and sentence stripes to be sorted. I then tell the children to use this as a model text and write a similar text about an unusual pet.

Interview about pets
A simple questionaire about pets. I usually get the children to work in pairwork - one asks first and takes down as much detail as possible, then they swap. Children really enjoy this type of activity. Then they can write a text about their friend�s pet. So they should write down as much as possible, then they find writing the text much easier.
