Summarising verbs
This is a speaking activity to practise using summarising verbs. The sheets should be cut out and then the students should match the summarising verb to the correct example. They should then use the verbs to report what was said. Suggested answers are included on the second sheet. Hope this is helpful.

Creating a soap opera
I used this worksheet with a teen group to help them structure their project which was to write and perform a ten minute sketch of a soap opera scene. We brainstormed typical soap opera plots first and had previously done work on the past simple and on emotions which we included in the plays. The group really got into it and produced some great...

Shop dialogues
Just a simple reading exercise for very young learners. They can join the fruit to the right dialogue and then practice them. I suggest introducing the dialogue structure (maybe with Can I help you?) and getting them doing mini roleplays before introducing the sheet.

America introduction and Australia introduction
These are another two worksheets in the passport series (another two introduction pages). They are independent work assignments. The students must do some research to find the information. Its quite basic but good for low levels. I normally print in black and white and let the kids colour the flags as well!

Eartquakes 2: How to survive an Earthquake
This is the second part of my earthquake sheet. It can be used on its own as a reading but was originally intended to compliment the other half of the worksheet which practises the third conditional. The sheet doesnt seem to upload well and the first and third boxes are out of sync. I hope this can be cleared up when you download it. If it can...

American football - internet quest
This is a part of a series Im donig with my kids called The English Passport where they have the option to do extra work about different aspects of life in English speaking countries. The emphasis is on autonomous learning. Ive had a really good response from the kids and they are loving choosing their own research topics. I hope this shee...

England and Spain
This is a double worksheet. The first tells the students a little about England while practising some simple geographical features vocab. The second is about Spain. It can be completed with the same vocabulary as the first although this isnt marked on the sheet. There is one mistake in the first worksheet - so sorry! It should say island and ...

An interview with the Beatles
This is a worksheet I made for a VERY beginners class (who are doing New English File). Its an interview with the Beatles...obviously bearing very little relation to reality except in the most basic details and Im doing it as a listening exercise. (Teachers copy on second page!) Its mostly to practise to be and greetings. It has a little...

idioms of personality
This is a fun worksheet to practise some common British idioms about personality. Sorry about the layout of the pictures. I cant quite get it to upload right but you should be able to change them so they dont cut any sentences in half! The next sheet is a (slightly polemic) text about what our idae of a hero is that you can use as a reading an...
