Big Brother UK (Part 4)- Listening to Introductions
My students love Big Brother so I decided to prepare this listening of real UK Big Brother for them. They have to watch the video (first programme in which they introduce themselves) and match the correct answers about BASIC INFORMATION. Actually this is basic, but obviously is real British English with real British accents, so this makes is more d...

Make vs. Do
Review activity: the contents of when to use Do or Make have been taught in a previous class.
Simply ask students to shake their hands if the word you, the instructor, mention collocates with do, and ask them to hold their nose with their hands if it collocates with make. Usually students get quite excited, as they like moving, and get involve...

Song Ours by Taylor Swift (Possessive Adjs and Pronouns)
This song called Ours by Taylor Swift is great to review both the Possessive Adjectives and the Possessive Pronouns. Students usually get mixed up. I believe colours also help them distinguish the type. At the end of the song students can also discuss in pairs and in the class about prejudice and about doing things thinking of what other peop...

ERIC CLAPTON SONG TEARS IN HEAVEN (CONDITIONAL 2)
This song was asked by my own students. They love it but they didnt know what it means. Its great for preteaching or reviewing conditional 2. Besides, a newspaper article is included with the story of 4 year old son of Eric Clapton who died, and to whom this song is dedicated. The task for students is to match English with its translation. Hope i...

Test to Check Level
This is a test I made to check the level of students at the beginning of the course. It is only grammar-based, so it should be complemented with other skill tests like speaking (asking students to introduce themselves and say what they expect from the courese), listening (one you have the audio file). Hope its useful!!!

Song 1973 - Rhyming and Phonetics
Play the song in youtube and let students fill in the gaps with the words. Then ask them to do the post-listening activity, using phonetics, and let students see which words rhyme with which. Then they can continue writing more words with those sounds. It is great fun and students can learn a lot from songs and rhyming in songs!
