Homonyms 5

This activity has a few challenging items, eg, ascent/assent, idol/idle, so it may be suitable for more proficient students unless the homonyms are pre-taught.

Two True, One False
This is an excellent game/activity to encourage students to speak, think, listen and respond. Students are divided into groups of 4-6. Each person has to either write down or think of 3 "facts" about themselves, only 2 of which are true.
Students then take turns sharing their "3 facts" and the group has to guess which one is "false".

Monster Sort
This activity contains a list of 52 monsters generated by intermediate-age learners. Ideally students will work in groups for this activity, which involves critical thinking and discussion. On a separate paper, students place the headings, "FICTION", "MAYBE" & "REAL LIFE" and write the names of the monsters under the appropriate heading.
