A Kiwi Lad - a short reading with Kiwi slang
I�m not a Kiwi, but had to write something for my ESOL students, who are dairy farm workers - to learn some Kiwi slang. My colleagues assured me that it was spot on. I�ve taken the definitions from http://www.chemistry.co.nz/kiwi.htm. Key included.

Prepositions of place - at; in; on; by; among; between; next to; near; above; under; behind DOMINOES
First laminate the sheets. Cut up the dominoes in pairs (a line A with a line B) so there is one �place� (coloured rectangle) and one preposition (white rectangle) per pair. Ss need to make a sentence using the place and the preposition as they join their domino pair (in order to check their understanding and give more STT)

Ordering food in a restaurant and waiter gets the order wrong (communicative exercise)
1) In pairs ss work out the discrepancies between the food ordered for the whole table (6 people) and what was brought. 2) Ss do a role play (entering restaurant; being seated; ordering and finding order is incorrect, then speaking politely to the waiter about the problem).
