Preparing your trip to the UK
Here are a few ideas for helping your students prepare for a trip to the UK : a worksheet on how to learn regularly and build your vocab as you travel, a small table on the English pound system, some ice-breaker Qs to ask host families (not easy the first evening with a family!), etc. Hope its helpful!

Strange Fruit by B Holiday
This is the wonderful song "Strange Fruit" which Ive made with blanks for a listening comprehension exrcise I include in my theme on US Civil Rights. You can download the song on YouTube, or you can do it as a poem which students will read out to the class as a speaking/listening exrcise. In any case, its a haungtingly great song!

Mad Men 1.1 Oral comprehension
A short during-and-after comprehension worksheet to go with the first episode of the fabulous "Mad Men" TV series. The idea is to help students with general comprehension and pick up on a few key ideas and expressions. I put the subtitles on, and if the class gets really interested, we watch again later without the subtitles. Enjoy!

A quick PowerPoint I created to start discussion with my students who are beginners in English. We discussed each page first in French, then read the English. Both the 6th and 7th graders enjoyed the discussions, and I hope you do, too!
