Running dictation
This is a very nice activity for beginners. You cut out the singe sentences and post them on the wall at different spots in class.
The students then have to copy the sentences onto a Piece of paper but they are not allowed to take the paper with them. Thus, they have to remember the sentences (and their structure)!

Past simple Running dictation
Copy the text and put them ouside of the classroom on the floor. The students have to run there, read the text and remember as much as possible. Then they run back and copy the text into their books. They have to run for so long until they have copied the whole text.
