Writing a scary story
First the students choose scary nouns, adjectives, adverbs... Then they find a scary setting, scary characters and scary events. After that, they imagine the beginning / problem / solution to the problem / ending. Finally, they write their story. (The idea is not mine, I adapted it from a book - don�t remember which one...)
