To test L and R I always write one word with an L and with an R and get them to circle the correct one.
I
I always start by getting them to spell my name, (Laura) and getting angry when they spell it wrong!

Then I write
Rabbit  Labbit and they circle or vote on the correct one.

But you can also do it with words with a L or R in the middle such as...

July, Cloudy etc.

Hope thats of any help!

Do you have this booklet for pronunciation?  It is free to download.

http://international.ouc.bc.ca/pronunciation/

You can just look for L and R words or download the whole booklet.  There are tongue twisters, questions and short stories to read that contain many of the "problem sounds" in English.

I also have 2 CDs full of speech drills that also have some matching worksheets. I could send you some of the worksheets if I copy the files to my computer.  (Other teachers reading this can send me a private message if they would also like some of the pronunciation drills.)
