British currency

I need help! It doesn t have much to do with teaching English but...

One of my students has to do an exercise about British currency and I cannot help him. Could you please help us?

What is the fewest number of coins you need to make

(a) 83p   (b) L1.34  (c) L5.27

1p - 2p - 5p - 10p - 20p - 50p - 1L (I don t have the right symbol) - 2L

I hope someone can do it.  I can t!
Thanks

A logical approach. let s take the first one 83p.

You need  50p + 20p + 10p + 2p + 1p

the next one 1.34 = 1 + 20p + 10p + 2p + 2p

the next one 5.27 = 2 + 2 + 1 + 20p + 5p + 2p

and I hope these are correct.
