In US English we don �t use "nought" and rarely use "nil" it is usually zero and in many cases "oh" as well.
 
"zero point five liters"  or "half a liter"
 
3� is "three degrees" (or a guess it could also be "three to zero power" in mathematics)

Downunder we tend to say:
 
three degrees
 
half a litre
point five of a litre
point five litres
zero point five litres
 
zero degrees (usually shortened to just zero - it�s zero today (which is indeed rare for us!)
 
nil score
 
oh and zero are both acceptable for numbers e.g telephone numbers.  Nought is rarely used these days.
