The Republic of Guinea-Bissau, pronounced ʁɛˈpublikɐ dɐ ɡiˈnɛ biˈsau, capital: Bissau, declared its independence from Portugal on the 24th of September 1973.
The motto of this new Republic is " Unity, Struggle, Progress".
Tony Tcheka is one of Guinea �s new generation of poets; his poetry is mostly about his veneration of his motherland�s beauties, a celebration to the struggle of national rebuilding, after the devastating years of war:
let us go to Komo to regain strength

Let us go to Komo to drink at the same fountain
where the first nameless freedom fighter
drank his last drop
