Phonetics: "chocolate"

Hi, could you help me with this?

chocolate  / tʃɒklət/   [ tʃɒkəlɪt

Which one is better? I ve always used the 2nd one but my pupils use the first one. Well, they say / tʃɒklat/, but it s close enough... Is number 2 incorrect?

Thanks,
Olga

The first one is most common in English.

For me the two are correct. We ll wait for more opinions. Maybe the native teachers here will be of greater help.

I agree fully with alien boy.  I ve heard both, lots of times, depending on which part of the UK I was in.

There is a third one: MW and Garfield say/ʈʃɑκəɭəʈ/. I say //ʈʃɑκɭIʈ/. It really depends upon which region you come from.
