help

Dear friends,
I need some help.

I give my pupils one or two writing tasks a week. At this point I m teaching descriptive writing - describing a person, event, object and place. I need ideas for writing a 5 paragraph essay for an event in the following form:

You have recently experienced something at school, for example, excelled or failed a test, met a new friend, been part of a delegation, received a prize.
Write a letter to a friend, informing him/her about your experience.
You may relate to the following points:
what happened
when it happened
how you felt
how others close to you felt about it

If you have ideas for any of the other topics that would also be very helpful.

One more thing, I have 3 pupils in this class (the 11th grade) that are interested in having a pen pal their age. So if you have kids that are interested to be my pupils pen pals please send me a private letter.

Thanks,
Debbie

how about witnessing a terrible car accident?

you were standing on the roadside just near the tress when you witnesed a terrible car accident. The police arrived to the scene and started to interrogate all the witnesses.

- where  and when did the accident occur?
- where were you when the wccident happened?
-what was the driver doing while he was driving? (chatting,on the phone, eating, holding something....)
-how about the cyclist, how come he did not see the car coming towards him?
- do you remember any other details that may help the investgation?

you were of great help and the policeman thanked you.

since that was your first experience helping a police investigation; you decided to write aletter and tell it all to your freind.

Hii, you are lost in a forest with your family while driving..

-why did you go to a forest

-is it night time or not

-did you have a road map

-is there telephone signal in the forest

-how did you and your family members feel

-what are the possible ways of turning back  home

I think especially the last question enhances your pupils problem solving skills
