Plan/ Intention to do something

Hi,

I plan to do something
I intend to do something
Can anyone explain th difference between both, "plan and intend" to do sthg
My question is related to expressing the future with
"to be" + going to + verb: I am going to buy a book
and
Present Progressive + Future words: I am buying a book next week

It is said that the first expresses intention for the future
and the second expresses already Planned actions

I am buying a book next week: It s a plan, an arrangement. We know when it is happening.
I am going to buy a book: It s an intention, like a feeling. It is not important when it is happening.

Hi Ayda,
Both mean the same - a future decision or arrangement. The only difference is that with the present continuous we need a future time expression.

thanks Miaot and cagreis so much, i ve found that the difference is subtle and slight and things like these are a bit difficult to explain  to students especially learners of English as a second language
