The first one is correct because auxilary verb of question form  is not used while changing direct speech into indirect speech.Using ask means questioning.

Hi, I saw your post and and wanna answer it.

I am sure that the choice "a" (she asked me what I needed ) is the correct one.

In those sentences we use the verbs "ask and tell" most of the times. such as,,

  .She asked me or
  .She told me

We combine two sentences with each other with a conjunction. In the second sentence after the conjunction, firstly we have to use the subject,  and secondly we have to use the verb in the correct tense. " subject + verb "

   e.g

.She asked me what his real name is.  ( correct )  Thumbs Up

.She asked me what is his real name.  ( wrong ) Cry

Good chance...

Well, as Naryana and ddertli mentioned above, the first one is correct because when you use indirect speech you are reporting something that someone else said. In this case, you report what she asked but youre not asking, so you dont use a question form.

e.g. (direct)`Do you like pizza?, she asked......( its exactly what she asked)
(indirect) She asked if I liked pizza  ( you tell somebody else what she asked to you)
