What is Entrée? (talking about a course)

Hi, I have a doubt, which may seem a bit silly...but there it goes!
What is Entrée equivalent for in the USA???? A main course or a starter.
Is this list ok?

Cocktail
appetizer
Starter
First course
Main course
dessert

Would you add something else??? I ´m a bit of a mess with the order and the content of each one!
Thank you in advance!!!

- Cocktail or aperitif (drink that stimulates the appetite).
- Entree, appetizer and starter are usually the same (French/AmE/BrE). These could be called the first course of the meal I suppose. After doing a little research I discovered that entrée has a different meaning in the US (main course of a meal) vs UK (more like a starter).
- Soup as a possible first course (or an extra course).
- Coffee and cognac/brandy to finish off the meal. (?)

Some meals have up to 7 courses, so I suppose you could start numbering courses...

In some posh restaurants they give you an "amuse-bouche" before your starter, which I think would be called an appetizer in English.  It ´s generally a two-bite taster to whet your appetite.

So it would be...

Cocktail / aperitif
Appetizer / amuse-bouche
Starter
Main course
Dessert
Coffee

And then of course you ´ve got your cheese board, Coffee and cognac and anything else you decide to throw in!
