a couple not on there:

a red herring: a deliberate attempt to trick or fool someone--like a false clue in a mystery

to be frightened: to have one s heart in one s boots, heart leaped out of my mouth

to terrify: to curl smb s hair, to make smb s flesh creep

to risk, court danger: to put one s head into the lion s mouth, to put one s head into a noose, to ask for trouble, to show a red cloth to a bull

to avoid risk: no guts, no glory; no cross, no crown; nothing ventured, nothing gained
