Could anyone explain the difference between series and serial to me please ? Thank you.

I think a serial is produced by installments and is only complete when all the episodes have been released, while the episodes of a series are complete by themselves but are related to one another in some way.

Serial :appearing in successive parts or numbers <a serial story>.

Series : a set of regularly presented television programs each of which is complete in itself.
