That is one of the first things we learn at Teacher s College.

If you want to teach your students to write, they have to have a vocabulary, can read and spell.

If they are young learners - start with easy reading so they get acquainted with English words, what they mean and how they sound.
Sing songs.  Write the songs on the blackboard and let them copy them.

Think back to when you learned to write in your language. You could speak and probably read first.  It s important to do things in the right order.

You can use
sequencing: ask your students to put a jumbled paragraph in the correct order.
parallel writing: give your students a piece of writing with specific questions (content,
structure, connectors, tenses ...)then ask them to write using the same
                          outline.
brainstorming: ask your SS as many questions as you can to give them/ or elicit from them
ideas to be used in their writings.
give them topics they are interested in at the beginning.
encourage them to read as much as possible.
             Good Luck

Try very simple dictation after you have taught them some vocabulary.
