difference between how is she like? and how does she look like?

Hello, can anybody tell if we use HOW IS SHE LIKE? to talk about personality and How does she look like? to refer to physical appearance? I am in doubt. Thanks!

iF YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT SOMEONE S  PHYSICAL APPEARANCE YOU SAY: WHAT DOES HE/SHE LOOK LIKE? IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT HIS/HER PERSONALITY YOU SAY: WHAT IS HE/SHE LIKE? Wink

Hi Carolina, if you replace How with What in both questions, they would be correct.

hi

how/what is she like? = refers to the personality, you will answer with "she s funny/smart/boring/nice..." but you can also answer by describing her appearance "she s beautiful, she s got green eyes..."

what does she look like? (better than "how does she look like?") = refers ONLY to the appearance of that person, you must answer by describing her apperance: she s tall and pretty... she looks like her grand-mother... you CANNOT say "she s smart" to answer that question because it has nothing to do with her appearance!

is it clear?
