class about family. Any suggestions?

Hello, Dear teachers. How are you doing?
Next Saturday Im about to finish a book unit that talks about family. In
general, the unit is working comparison, so most of time we talked about
families in the past and in the present. We also talked about family relation,
family paradigm and values.
There are only 4 activities to finish the unit and my class last 2 hours
and 30 minutes. And I really dont want to move forward to the next unit.
So, dear teachers do you have any suggestion in this topic to give me. I
was thinking about a video. Can you give me nice ideas?
P.s.: My students are teenages and adults. They are starting advanced level. P.s.: I ve already used songs, class survey and debates.
Thanks
Danielle

Although the site is teaching grammar through movies ,and I dont know if you want to work on grammar, I believe its worth checking it out . It has lots of video activities!

Danielle,
What about something like making a family tree and then getting the students to compare theirs with their classmates? Or ask the students to bring in an old photograph of their family or someone in their family and do a short presentation on it.
Hope you find something

Danielle, may be you could work on a reading of the different types of family that exist today, you know, the traditional or nuclear family, single-parent families, blended families, same-sex parents, etc. You could assign a reading about each family type to different groups, and they can prepare short oral presentations for the rest of the class. Or you can work with the similarities/differences between the types of families. If you were looking for a video, you could use an episode from the TV show "Big Love" (a show about a polygamist) to prompt discussion about the different types of families.
Here s an article about types of families: http://health.howstuffworks.com/pregnancy-and-parenting/parenting/understanding-family-structures-and-dynamics-ga.htm
and here you have short definitions of each family type http://www.healthychildren.org/English/family-life/family-dynamics/types-of-families/pages/Different-Types-of-Familes-A-Portrait-Gallery.aspx
Hope I could help!! Paula
