Can I use "lesser" as a comparative form?

No, "less" is the comparative form, and "the least" the superlative.
Lesser means smaller, and is most commonly used in the phrase "to a lesser extent".

Interesting question. I had a look in the dictionary - As a comparative adverb it �s sometimes used before a participle, for example, a lesser-known writer.
As Bruce says it can be used to mean smaller. In fact it �s often used in nature - the lesser spotted woodpecker, apparently there �s a lesser anteater.
