What would you call this method?

I wonder what the following method would be called in English (in fact I m not even sure what I would call it in my native tongue).

Students sit in class and close their eyes.
They are asked to reflect on something, to make things come to their mind, to conjure up ideas and pictures.
Maybe it s just one question they have to think on, maybe the teacher asks several questions or gives several inputs and leaves long breaks in between.

Something like an inner journey... but what could you call it in a "methodically correct" way??
