I think it is wrong because�"have finished"�is the past infinitive, which is not necessary in this case since the past is already expressed in "didn �t have to".�

This sentence is completely correct:

Anne didn �t have to finish the project on her own.

The second sentence is correct, at least grammatically...

She didn �t have to have finished - is a perfect modal like "She shouldn�t have finished the project on her own."

The second sentence is using "have to" in the past modal tense. It looks rather strange but it is, I believe, correct.

Ann didn�t have to finish yhe project means that it wasn�t nesessary to do it and she didn�t.


Ann needn�t have finished her project means that it wasn�t necessary but she finished it.

I think Ann didn�t have to have finished her project is incorrect because didn�t have to

can�t   be followed by a perfect infinitive
